In 2015, Tedeschi Trucks Band revived Joe Cocker and Leon Russell's legendary Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour with the man himself—Leon Russell joining for one of his final major performances before his 2016 death. This CD captures that historic LOCKN' Festival recreation, with TTB's already-stacked 12-piece lineup expanding further to accommodate the material's orchestral scope. Original Mad Dogs alumni Claudia Lennear and Dave Mason also joined, creating a direct connection between the 1970 original and this tribute.

Mad Dogs & Englishmen's horn-driven, gospel-tinged soul-rock suits TTB's strengths perfectly. "Feelin' Alright," "The Letter," "Cry Me a River," "Delta Lady," and "Space Captain" all receive full-band treatments that honor the originals while adding the improvisational firepower that defines TTB's approach. Derek's slide guitar references Russell's piano work while adding his own voice; Susan's vocals channel Cocker's raw power while maintaining her own identity. The presence of Leon Russell—frail but commanding—adds emotional weight that transforms tribute into something more profound.
