Genesis – Live On Air 1987 (2-CD)
Product Details
By 1987, Genesis had completed one of rock's most unlikely transformations, from the Peter Gabriel-era art rock of the early '70s to a massively successful pop outfit with Collins at the helm. The Invisible Touch tour supporting their massive 1986 album was one of the biggest grossing tours of that year, filling stadiums worldwide. This broadcast catches the band at that commercial apex, when songs like "Invisible Touch" and "Land of Confusion" were inescapable on radio and MTV.
The 2 disc set features a show from 1987 that captures Genesis at the peak of their popularity - at a time when they were all over the media. It's a concert with sugary pop and catchy dance tunes, but one that also features, at the same time, superb musicianship and extended instrumental jamming. After this, the band would only record one more album before Phil Collins left the group for a solo career.
