Pet Shop Boys – Introspective (LP Vinyl)
Product Details
Released at the peak of late-80s club culture, *Introspective* stretched each of its six tracks into an extended, floor-ready epic at a time when Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe were among the rare pop acts who could move seamlessly between the charts and the dancefloor. The Trevor Horn collaboration "Left to My Own Devices" remains one of the most ambitious singles of the era, weaving Tennant's literary lyricism into a production that sounds simultaneously orchestral and mechanical.
Introspective is the third studio album by British synthpop duo Pet Shop Boys. It was first released on 11 October 1988 and is the Pet Shop Boys' second-best-selling album, selling over 4.5 million copies worldwide (their fifth studio album, Very, sold more than 5 million copies). It is so named because "all the songs, although it's a dance album, are introspective". Perhaps the biggest change in Pet Shop Boys' sound evident on this album is an increasing attention to orchestration using real orchestras, particularly on the Trevor Horn-produced "Left to My Own Devices", which took months to produce.
