Pete Townshend once described the band's ambition in 1967 as wanting to capture the pirate radio experience on vinyl, and Sell Out delivered exactly that, positioning The Who somewhere between pop art provocation and straight-up rock power. The half-speed mastering process at Abbey Road, which runs the source material at half speed during cutting to allow for greater high-frequency detail, makes this the most sonically faithful way to hear Townshend's guitar work and Keith Moon's drumming as they were originally recorded.

The Who's third album, Sell Out (released in 1967), is remembered for the use of fake adverts and jingles between songs. It contains the tracks, "I Can See for Miles," "Armenia City in the Sky," and "Tattoo." Mastered by engineer Jon Astley from the original tapes and packaged in original sleeve with obi and certificate of authenticity. Half-speed cut mastering by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, producing a superior vinyl cut.
