Todd Rundgren – A Cappella (LP Vinyl)
Product Details
By 1985, Todd Rundgren had already spent fifteen years rewriting the rules of studio craft, from the layered pop of "Something/Anything?" to his production work with Badfinger, Hall & Oates, and Meat Loaf. "A Cappella" pushed that obsession with the recording process to its logical extreme, treating the human voice as a complete instrument palette at a moment when the possibilities of early sampling technology were just beginning to reveal themselves.
Todd Rundgren’s groundbreaking 1985 debut for Warner Records returns to vinyl for the first time since its original release. Rundgren employed overdubbing techniques and an E-mu Emulator (an early sampler), electronically manipulating the sound of his voice to mimic conventional rock instruments, handclaps, and other sounds. Entirely vocal-driven, it stands as one of his most unique works. This reissue marks a pivotal moment in Rundgren’s career before his solo hiatus. The album is mastered for vinyl from the original analog stereo tapes by Joe Nino-Hernes at Sterling Mastering.
