Released in 1981, *Fair Warning* finds Van Halen at their most menacing and experimental, with Eddie's guitar work pushing into darker harmonic territory than the party-rock anthems that made them famous. Tracks like "Unchained" and "Mean Streets" showcased a band willing to get weird, and the album's brooding undertow has earned it a devoted cult following among fans who consider it the peak of the classic lineup's creative ambition.

Van Halen s 2x Platinum album. Mastering engineer Chris Bellman, who remastered the original albums at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios, was enlisted for this new version. In order to produce the original sound the band intended, Bellman cut straight from the quarter-inch tapes for CD; for 180-gram vinyl; and for the digital versions.
