Delbert McClinton has been one of the great unsung heroes of American roots music for decades, a Texas cat who came up playing harmonica behind Sonny Boy Williamson and taught a young John Lennon a thing or two about the instrument during a 1962 tour. By the time this Austin City Limits session was captured, he had decades of roadwork behind him, and it shows in every note his band lays down.

Recorded live for Austin City Limits, Delbert's first live album (and first Grammy-nominated release) is a bracing whirlwind of blues, R&B and rock 'n' roll. His band's on fire on "Maybe Someday Baby," "Lipstick Traces," "Shaky Ground," "I Wanna Thank You Baby," "B Movie Boxcar Blues," "Let Me Be Your Lover" and the rest of this 1989 release! Alligator.
