Product Details
John Jackson spent decades as a gravedigger in Rappahannock County, Virginia, playing house parties and local dances while the wider world remained largely unaware of him, until folklorist Chuck Perdue helped bring him to wider attention in the 1960s. He carries the Piedmont tradition forward not as a revivalist but as a living practitioner, his fingerpicking style rooted in the same pre-war country blues idiom as artists like Blind Boy Fuller.
Acoustic guitar and vocals from a national treasure. The 75 year-old Jackson plays with the depth of someone who has lived the blues.
