Gonzalo Rubalcaba – Paseo (CD)

Rubalcaba's pianism has always occupied its own latitude, rooted in the Afro-Cuban tradition he carried out of Havana while reaching toward the harmonic territory that drew Miles Davis to champion his work in the late 1980s. *Paseo*, meaning "a stroll" or "a walk," finds him moving through that landscape with characteristic unhurried confidence, the kind that comes from an artist who has nothing left to prove and everything still to explore.
