Before they became the engine behind "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" and "Rust Never Sleeps," Crazy Horse had a creative life of their own. Danny Whitten's songwriting anchors the early material here, and his presence as a frontman reveals just how much the band's raw, unhurried feel was native to them, not borrowed from Young.
Excellent two CD release from the band best known as Neil Young's backup group. They issued a number of fine albums in their own right. This two CD set contains their complete body of work for Reprise Records. Crazy Horse reached # 84 on the Billboard charts when originally issued in 1971. Their follow-up album, Loose, hit the Billboard charts in 1972. This CD also features tracks from the Crazy Horse sessions and a rare single from Valiant Records circa 1962.
