Kevin Parker wrote, recorded, and produced every note of Currents essentially alone in his Perth studio, a process that mirrors the album's themes of personal transformation and letting go. The shift toward synthesizers and soul-influenced textures marked a genuine turning point, drawing in listeners well beyond the psychedelic rock faithful and cementing Parker as one of the most self-sufficient sonic architects working today.
