Pete Townshend conceived Tommy at a moment when rock music was still proving it could carry the weight of a full narrative arc, and the Who's live performances of the complete work, including a landmark 1969 run at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, cemented its place as something beyond a studio artifact. This half-speed pressing, cut at Abbey Road, is the format the album's dense, layered arrangements have always deserved.

Regarded as one of the most important albums of all time, Tommy is a rock opera about a deaf, dumb, and blind boy. Released in 1969, it peaked at #7 in the U.S. and contains the songs, "Pinball Wizard," "The Acid Queen," and "I'm Free." Mastered by engineer Jon Astley from the original tapes and packaged in original sleeve with obi and certificate of authenticity. Half-speed cut mastering by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, producing a superior vinyl cut.
