Bloodstone never got the mainstream credit they deserved, but Kansas City soul devotees and crate diggers have always known the truth. Their silky blend of doo-wop roots, funk grooves, and romantic balladry carved out a lane that influenced R&B well into the '80s, and "Natural High" remains one of the most genuinely gorgeous slow jams of the entire decade.

After a decade of dues-paying, these Kansas City-based funk masters released Natural High, their 1st hit album, in 1973. Today, Bloodstone's the bomb with old-schoolers; Rhino's recent reissues of Natural High and it's smash follow up, Unreal, have motored major units.
