Recorded in the glow of the "Serious Moonlight" tour's massive success, *Tonight* leaned into reggae textures and blue-eyed soul, with Bowie revisiting Iggy Pop collaborations like "Neighborhood Threat" and "Tonight" itself, the latter originally appearing on Iggy's *Lust for Life*. It's a snapshot of Bowie navigating arena-rock stardom while keeping one foot in the art-damaged world that made him essential.

After David Bowie released 'Let's Dance' he was as big as he'd ever been and decided to strike while the iron was hot. The resulting album is 1984's 'Tonight', which was largely successful at keeping the general public interested in him. For all it's commercial ambitions 'Tonight' remained a Bowie album, with the video for 'Blue Jean' really being a 20 minute short film.
