Product Details

Before Kris Kristofferson championed him from a Nashville stage and before Atlantic Records came calling, John Prine was just a mailman from Maywood, Illinois, writing songs of startling emotional precision in his off hours. These recordings capture that rare, unrepeatable moment when the songs were still brand new, the performances unguarded, the genius not yet confirmed by anyone but Prine himself.

Specially priced double CD set of John Prine's earliest recordings, one year before his debut, with classic hits & one unreleased song. Both discs consist of recently unearthed tapes--the first disc is a August 1970 recording for John recording songs that would make up his first album at the WFMT studios in Chicago.
