By 1986, Johnny Winter had been refining his Texas blues vocabulary for nearly two decades, and his partnership with Alligator Records found him reconnecting with the deep blues roots that first made him a legend on the late-'60s rock circuit. Having Dr. John in the room elevates the already-charged atmosphere; two of American music's most distinctive voices trading off in the same studio is a rare document worth owning.

Dr. John and Ken Saydak take turns pounding the piano as Johnny works his singular magic with the slide on this 1986 album, his third for Alligator. There are a couple fine acoustic numbers here, but mostly this is electric and fiery: "Mojo Boogie," "Love, Life and Money," "Evil on My Mind," "See See Baby," "Tin Pan Alley," "I'm Good," "Third Degree," "Broke and Lonely" and more!
