Julian Lage came up as a child prodigy in the San Francisco Bay Area scene before spending formative years alongside Gary Burton and later David Grisman, absorbing acoustic tradition from the inside. His Blue Note run has steadily expanded his vocabulary without losing the intimacy that made him essential, and bringing John Medeski into the fold opens a new tonal dimension rooted in the same exploratory spirit that has always connected jazz and the jamband world.

Guitar virtuoso Julian Lage returns with his fifth Blue Note release, Scenes From Above, the follow-up to the GRAMMY-nominated Speak To Me, which was once again produced by Joe Henry.
