Lush – Gala (CD)
Product Details
Lush arrived at the turn of the '90s as one of the defining voices of the 4AD sound, with Miki Berenyi and Emma Anderson weaving guitars into walls of texture that placed them at the center of the emerging shoegaze movement. Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins produced several of these early sessions, a creative kinship that made perfect sense given both acts shared a label and a commitment to treating the guitar as pure atmosphere.
Lush's Gala was the band's debut compilation album, comprising their earliest releases - Scar(1989), Mad Love (1990), and Sweetness and Light (1990) - in reverse chronological order, plus two additional tracks (a cover version of ABBA's "Hey Hey Helen" and the extended RobinGuthrie mix of Scar track "Scarlet").Originally released in 1990 as the band's introduction to the US and Japanese markets, the com-pilation's 35th anniversary is being celebrated with a 2025 reissue with new remasters by KevinVanbergen. Back in print for the first time since 1990, the LP features original artwork by V23.
