Recorded in 1971, this session captures a pivotal moment in the transatlantic blues conversation, when the British Invasion generation got to sit at the feet of the man who inspired them. Rory Gallagher, Mitch Mitchell, and the others on these tracks didn't just admire Muddy Waters from afar; they learned his language because of him, making the chemistry here something deeper than a typical all-star collaboration.

This is a unique time capsule of an album! Revered blues man Muddy Waters traveled to London at the behest of Chess Records to combine his American blues style with the "local" artists of England and Ireland. The results are truly incredible: Waters is at home in the London studio with the likes of Rory Gallagher, Mitch Mitchell and more, and the combination won the team a Grammy for the second time in Waters's career.
