Recorded at Stax Studios in Memphis when Redding was just 22 years old, this debut introduced a voice that would reshape American soul, drawing equally from Sam Cooke's gospel tenderness and the raw testifying energy of Little Richard. The title track and his cover of "These Arms of Mine" signaled immediately that Redding wasn't imitating his influences, he was synthesizing them into something entirely his own.

The 1964 debut album from the legendary Soul shouter. While Otis Redding died in 1967, just as he was achieving the success he so richly deserved, his recorded output proves that his talents were in full force even before the world began to take notice.
