Released in 1986 after Simon traveled to South Africa and immersed himself in mbaqanga and township jive, Graceland sparked genuine controversy over its recording during the cultural boycott of apartheid-era South Africa, even as it introduced millions of Western listeners to musicians like Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Los Lobos. The conversations it started, about artistic exchange, political responsibility, and whose music gets heard, never really ended.

Graceland's 25th anniversary CD features the original album with bonus tracks including a unreleased tracks audio documentary produced in 2012 with Paul Simon discussing the writing, inspiration and recording of the song 'Graceland'.
