Product Details

Before Phil Collins was selling out arenas, he was a kid in London absorbing every piece of soul and R&B coming out of Detroit, and *Going Back* is the sound of that debt being paid in full. Recording with surviving members of the Funk Brothers, the session musicians who anchored virtually the entire Motown catalog, gives this project a direct connection to the source that no amount of studio polish could replicate.

Going Back is a personal labor-of-love project where Phil Collins faithfully recreates the soulful Motown and 1960s standards that influenced his youth. To achieve an authentic vintage sound, Collins collaborated with three surviving members of the legendary Funk Brothers to record covers of tracks by artists like Stevie Wonder and The Temptations.
