Produced by Elvis Costello, who was dating vocalist Cait O'Riordan at the time, the second Pogues album pushed Shane MacGowan's whiskey-soaked street poetry into something sharper and more cinematic than their debut. The band's raucous reinterpretation of Irish traditional music found its fullest early expression here, with covers like "A Pair of Brown Eyes" and "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda" sitting comfortably alongside MacGowan's own bruised originals.

Two CDs. The Pogues' seminal album, 'Rum Sodomy & The Lash' celebrates it's 40th anniversary. Originally released on August 5th 1985, the album captured the raw energy and poetic lyricism that defined The Pogues, solidifying their place as one of the most influential bands of their generation. August 5thmarks the 40th anniversary of that original release date. This 40th anniversary reissue will come in a collectible Deluxe 2CD set, offering the original album plus a bonus disc that brings together the legendary Poguetry In Motion EP.
