Amorica. landed in 1994 as one of rock's more defiant statements, its infamous PMRC-baiting cover art generating as much conversation as the sprawling, blues-soaked grooves inside. The Crowes were deep in their imperial phase here, channeling Faces-era looseness and Southern soul into something entirely their own, and the unreleased Tall sessions have long been the stuff of legend among fans who wondered what that chapter might have sounded like properly realized.
The Black Crowes have collected the Amorica-era recordings (1992–1994) into a new box set. The reissue has been overseen by band founders and brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, along with acclaimed producer and friend of the Crowes, George Drakoulias.
CD1: A newly remastered Amorica sourced from the original 1/4” production master tapes and featuring three Amorica-era bonus tracks.
CD2: Tallest fixes the stories behind the lost/scrapped album Tall and the mish-mashed Lost Crowes version of Tall. With guidance from Rich Robinson, George Drakoulias, and Martin Pradler created new mixes of the Tall-era recordings from the January 1994 Conway sessions on 2” 24-track multis.
CD3: Marie Laveau Sessions, an incredible seven-song recording session from 1992, recorded at Kingsway Studios in New Orleans.
Plus, Live at AIR Studios, London, October 25, 1994. All songs are previously unreleased. 3-CD set housed in an LP-sized jacket, with a 20” x 30” poster, a fanzine, and a bumper sticker included. Limited Edition.
