Danger Mouse's fingerprints were already evident on *Brothers* and *El Camino*, but *Turn Blue* pushed that collaboration into genuinely new territory, trading crunch for atmosphere and leaning hard into the hazy, narcotic side of early 70s soul. Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney had spent years refining their two-piece live power, and hearing them stretch into something slower and more spacious was a genuine left turn for longtime fans.

This eighth album from the Ohio garage rock duo is the follow-up to their 2011 breakthrough smash, El Camino. Recorded once again with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton, the album sees the band change direction from its traditional raw blues-rock style toward a looser, smoother sound influenced by psychedelic soul. The singles "Fever" and "Turn Blue" are included.
