Pete Townshend wrote most of *The Who By Numbers* in the grip of a genuine personal crisis, and the rawness shows in ways that slicker rock records of the mid-70s never dared. Coming between *Quadrophenia* and *Who Are You*, it's often the overlooked middle chapter in the band's catalog, but its acoustic textures and confessional tone set it apart from anything else in their catalog.

Cited as "the most brutally honest recording they made," The Who's double platinum LP from 1975 contains the smash hits "Squeeze Box" and "Slip Kid," along with many tracks rarely heard live. Noted for its dark subject matter ("However Much I Booze," "How Many Friends," "In a Hand or a Face"), this cathartic album preceded some of the band's best live shows. This reissue contains 3 bonus tracks from the historic 1976 Swansea Football Ground Live Performance.
