Minneapolis-bred and chronically underrated, Zuzu's Petals were a scrappy, melody-obsessed indie rock outfit who burned bright in the early '90s alternative underground before the major-label machinery looked past them. Laurie Lindeen's songwriting carried a sharp emotional honesty that held up alongside the best of that era, and this collection makes a strong case that the band deserved far more than cult status.
