Grateful Dead – Workingman's Dead (CD)
Product Details
Recorded in early 1970 in the immediate aftermath of drug arrests, financial strain, and immersion in the sounds of Crosby, Stills & Nash and the Band, Workingman's Dead arrived as a radical simplification, the Dead stripping away psychedelic sprawl in favor of close harmonies and acoustic clarity. It came out just weeks before American Beauty, the two albums together forming one of the most remarkable back-to-back statements in rock history.
The Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab reissue of Workingman's Dead — the Grateful Dead's 1970 acoustic masterwork, remastered from the original analog tapes for audiophile playback. Recorded during a period of intense creative focus, the album marked a deliberate stylistic shift toward country, folk, and bluegrass, with Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter producing some of their most enduring songs: "Uncle John's Band," "Casey Jones," "Cumberland Blues," and "Truckin'." Widely considered one of the finest-sounding pressings of the album available.
