Doug Sahm built the Sir Douglas Quintet as a vehicle for the idea that Tex-Mex, blues, rock and roll, and country were never really separate things to begin with. This Austin City Limits capture finds the band in their natural habitat, working the grooves that Sahm had been refining since the mid-sixties, with that unmistakable organ and accordion weave holding everything together.
