My Morning Jacket - MMJ Live Vol. 4: Terminal 5 – NYC – The Tennessee Fire 10/18/10 (Red 3-LP Vinyl)
In October 2010, My Morning Jacket embarked on one of the most ambitious residency runs in recent rock history — five nights at New York City’s Terminal 5, with the band performing their entire studio discography, one album per night. MMJ Live Vol. 4 documents night one: a full performance of their 1999 debut, The Tennessee Fire, in its entirety. Originally recorded by Jim James on DAT cassette above his cousin’s garage, the debut took on new life at Terminal 5, with the band layering on distortion, echo, and extended codas — stretching the 15 original tracks into 90 minutes of exhilarating reinvention. The evening didn’t stop there — a seven-song encore brought some of the night’s most memorable moments, including rare covers of Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit,” Rod Stewart’s “Hot Legs,” and Erykah Badu’s “Tyrone,” alongside a live debut of “I Just Wanted to Say” and long-buried early recordings. Pressed on 3LP red vinyl via ATO Records. Includes digital download card.
