The November 2007 Relix issue features our Tool cover story and much more! They're the biggest multi-platinum band that your best friend has never heard of. Collectively, the music made by the four members of Tool defies categorization: Yes, it's heavy, and definitely a bit metallic, but it's also gothy and proggy. Their penchant for borderless music, psychedelic imagery and dark videos has helped make them one of the most popular bands of the early- to mid-aughts—while attracting some of rock's most obsessive followers. The band created stunning packages for its albums (2006's 10,000 Days offered stereoscopic glasses and hallucinatory art) and composed experimental, often sprawling songs with surreal lyrics and provocative titles.
