Product Details

Three young Americans growing up in England, shaped by the British folk scene and the shadow of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley, and Dan Peek arrived fully formed on this debut. The acoustic intricacy and sun-bleached harmonies here were something genuinely new, and "A Horse with No Name" became one of the defining sounds of early '72 radio almost overnight.

Pressed on 180 gram premium-quality vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing as part of the Rhino Reserve audiophile vinyl series - America is the debut studio album by America, first released in January 1972. The record reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard album chart, holding the top spot for five weeks. It generated two major singles: "A Horse with No Name", which spent three weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "I Need You", which peaked at #9. Other songs, including "Sandman" and "Three Roses", also gained airplay on FM radio. The album was later certified Platinum by the RIAA.
