Recorded at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, New York with The Band's Levon Helm and Garth Hudson among the contributors, this 1975 release found Muddy Waters in remarkable company, blending his Chicago blues authority with the rustic, woodsy energy of the Hudson Valley scene that had coalesced around The Band. The Grammy win validated what fans already knew: Waters lost none of his commanding presence in those upstate New York sessions.

This is the first American official LP reissue of The Muddy Waters Woodstock AlbumThis was Muddy Waters’ final album for Chess Records. It won the Grammy Award for Best Ethnic or Traditional Folk Recording in 1978.
