Captured on October 20, 1972 at the height of the Ziggy Stardust tour, this Santa Monica Civic Auditorium broadcast circulated as one of the most sought-after bootlegs in rock history for decades before receiving an official release. Bowie and the Spiders from Mars were at full tilt here, the band locked in and the theatrical spectacle still raw enough to feel dangerous.
Live Santa Monica 72 is a live album that was housed in the David Bowie Five Years 1969-1973 box set. On June 17th, it will be issued as a heavyweight 180 gram 2LP vinyl edition.
