Recorded and released when Clapton was well into his seventh decade, *Meanwhile* arrives as a genuinely unhurried statement from one of rock's most restless guitarists, not a comeback so much as a continuation. The collaborations with Van Morrison extend a friendship and musical kinship that stretches back to the late 1960s British scene, while the tracks with Jeff Beck carry added weight as some of Beck's final recorded work before his passing in January 2023.
