Product Details

Fela Kuti recorded "Noise For Vendor Mouth" at a moment when his Afrika 70 ensemble was operating at peak cohesion, with Tony Allen's drumming serving as the rhythmic spine of an increasingly radical artistic and political project. The title track's extended groove is a direct confrontation with Lagos street capitalism and the corruption beneath it, delivered with the kind of slow-burning intensity that made Nigerian authorities deeply uncomfortable with Fela's work throughout the decade.

Limited red colored vinyl LP pressing. Released in 1975, this album began Fela's greatest and most prolific era. He had created and refined the perfect sonic blend that we now know as Afrobeat - lyrics that took on the social and political struggles of everyday people, drum rhythms he and Tony Allen honed to perfection, sharp punctuating horns, tenor and rhythm guitars, and call and response vocals. This album also follows his template of him using an entire side of an LP to build an unbreakable groove. This edition is pressed on Jabuticaba Red (opaque red) vinyl.
