Gene Harris And The Three Sounds – Live At The 'it Club' (LP Vinyl)
Product Details
Gene Harris spent the late 1960s quietly modernizing the piano trio format, absorbing soul and funk influences without abandoning the deep blues feeling that had defined the Three Sounds since their 1956 formation. The It Club was a Los Angeles jazz room that hosted landmark live recordings, and catching Harris in that intimate setting with Franklin and Burnett locked in behind him captures a band in full creative transition, playing to a crowd that understood exactly what they were hearing.
Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. The Three Sounds were one of the most prolific Blue Note acts. Led by pianist Gene Harris, the trio's sound had evolved by 1970, with a new line-up featuring bassist Henry Franklin and drummer Carl Burnett. The blues and gospel roots were still there but the rhythm had a funkier edge as heard on the rousing Live At The 'It Club' recording. This Blue Note Classic Series (stereo edition) is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes.
