Jorma Kaukonen's six-decade journey through American roots music finds a natural home in the intimate acoustic duo setting he's built with guitarist John Hurlbut at Fur Peace Ranch, the Ohio retreat where Kaukonen has spent years teaching the fingerpicking traditions he helped bring to mass audiences with Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna. Vol. 2 continues their quiet mission of honoring songwriters who shaped the American vernacular, from Dylan to Gram Parsons, with the unhurried care that only comes from two musicians who've spent real time in the same room together.
The second volume in a series that began with the RSD Black Friday release of The River Flows Vol. 1, which sold out and garnered widespread praise. This deluxe Vol. 2 package features Jorma Kaukonen and John Hurlbut performing their versions of songs by Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, and more, plus an original by John Hurlbut.
The deluxe package, designed by Kevin Morgan, features an OBI side spine on a gatefold jacket and an inner sleeve with celebrity photos from Jorma’s Fur Peace Ranch. The record itself is clear vinyl with five-color splatter.
