Pavement spent the '90s making indie rock that felt genuinely accidental and weirdly essential at the same time, and the 2021 reunion proved that bond between band and audience had never really dissolved. Robert Greene's film leaned into the absurdity of legacy and nostalgia rather than flattering it, which is exactly the kind of treatment Pavement deserved.

This November, Matador Records capitalizes on the sweeping success of box office smash PAVEMENTS with the physical release of the iconic meta-documentary's original soundtrack. Compiled by PAVEMENTS producer/editor Robert Greene and the band, the soundtrack ropes together disparate elements of the film - dialogue snippets, scenes from the fake Oscar-bait biopic Range Life, and cast recordings from the Slanted! Enchanted! Jukebox musical as well as live and rehearsal recordings from the group's 2021 reunion tour and the never-before-released cover of Jim Pepper's song "Witchitai-To." The full-band performances were mixed by Bryce Goggin, who worked on Pavement classics 'Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain,' 'Wowee Zowee,' and 'Brighten the Corners.'
