Recorded in 1991 on a four-track in Stockton, California, *Slanted & Enchanted* arrived in 1992 and essentially handed indie rock a new set of coordinates. Stephen Malkmus and Scott Kannberg built something deliberately rough and casually brilliant, where songs like "Summer Babe" and "Trigger Cut" felt like transmissions from a parallel universe where lo-fi was a philosophy, not a limitation.
