Syd Barrett's lysergic vision was captured in mono first, and that's the version that hits hardest. Recorded at Abbey Road concurrently with the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper sessions in early 1967, Barrett's songs crackle with a density and presence that the stereo mix can't quite replicate, the frequencies collapsing inward in the best possible way.

The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. The classic 1967 album remastered in 2017 from the original MONO analogue tapes by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman, issued on heavyweight 180 gram vinyl.
