Chicago's jazz organ scene in the early '60s was quietly revolutionary, and Sam Lazar was one of its most undersung architects. Catching Grant Green this early, essentially at the ground floor of his recording career, makes this a genuinely rare document, and Dixon's presence ties the session to the deep blues infrastructure that underpinned so much of what came out of that city.
Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Space Flight was the debut recording by the mysterious organist Sam Lazar. Issued on Argo in 1960, it features guitar wizard Grant Green-on only his second recording-as well as Chicago blues legend Willie Dixon on bass.
