Product Details

Alvin Lee's blistering fretwork was already the stuff of legend by the time Ssssh arrived, but this was the album where Ten Years After proved they were more than a live spectacle, translating that stage electricity onto tape with real compositional weight. The Helsinki concert document is the genuine treasure here, capturing the band in full flight just months after Woodstock introduced them to a generation of American rock fans who had never heard anything quite like Lee's speed and ferocity.

Originally released in 1969, Ssssh marked Ten Years After's breakthrough into mainstream rock, blending blues riffs with the raw energy of British psychedelia. The album has been newly mixed by Charlie Russell (at Soho Studios), overseen by the original band members, remixed from the original 7-track 1" master tapes, offering superb fresh sonic detail. The second LP contains a previously unreleased live recording from the Finnish radio archives of the band's stunning performance at the Kulttuuritalo hall in Helsinki on 3rd December 1969, recorded just months after the band's career-altering performance at Woodstock. This deluxe edition features newly written liner notes by Nigel Williamson, a testimonial from Joe Bonamassa, and previously unseen photographs. Remastered by Phil Kinrade and cut at half speed at AIR Mastering. The package is a 2LP 2025 Stereo Mix and Live in Helsinki, 1969. Housed in a reverse-board gatefold sleeve.
