Long After Dark arrived in late 1982 as the Heartbreakers were tightening into one of rock's most locked-in live bands, and the sessions behind it captured a group pushing at the edges of their sound with producer Jimmy Iovine. The seven previously unheard tracks here make this more than a reissue, offering a genuine window into where Petty and company's heads were between Damn the Torpedoes and the imperial stretch that would follow.

This is the expanded Deluxe Edition of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ classic 1982 album Long After Dark, featuring “You Got Lucky,” “Straight Into Darkness” and “Change Of Heart.” Release is scheduled for 10/18 and includes 12 bonus tracks, 7 of which are previously unreleased.” The new product is timed around the re-release of director Cameron Crowe’s first film, Heartbreakers’ Beach Party, a 1983 documentary special for MTV that has not been seen since its original airing (only aired twice).
