Turn Back arrived at an odd moment for Toto, caught between the polished pop instincts that would fully crystallize on *Toto IV* and a harder rock direction the band seemed to be testing out. The Los Angeles session veterans who formed the group's core had played on hundreds of records by this point, and that technical fluency runs through every track, even when the songwriting hadn't yet locked in.

Vinyl LP pressing. Includes digital download. Turn Back is the third studio album by Toto, originally released in 1981. Although it yielded the band's first top-ten hit in Japan and steady sales in that country, the album was a commercial disappointment elsewhere, failing to produce any charting singles and selling approximately 900,000 copies worldwide.
