Rivers Cuomo wrote the bulk of Make Believe in isolation, drawing on a period of intense personal reflection and study at Harvard, which gives the record an oddly detached, almost confessional quality that divided longtime fans upon its 2005 release. Coming off the cult devotion surrounding Pinkerton, Weezer's audience had strong opinions about every creative turn the band took, and Make Believe landed squarely in that debate.
Produced by Rick Rubin, Make Believe spawned the single 'Beverly Hills' which became the band s first hit No. 1 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and earned Weezer their first Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song. The record went on to be certified platinum by the RIAA. Reissued on 120g vinyl with standard jacket and 12x12 insert.
