Product Details

Bay Area power pop lifers, the Rubinoos came up through the Berkeley scene in the mid-1970s alongside acts nurtured by producer and mentor Matthew King Kaufman at Beserkley Records, a label that also launched Jonathan Richman and Greg Kihn. Their debut captured a brand of hook-driven, unabashedly melodic rock that felt almost defiant in the late-'70s landscape, and its influence on the power pop canon has only grown in the decades since.

The Rubinoos self-titled debut album is a power pop classic containing the hit, "I Think We're Alone Now," as well as the anthemic "Rock And Roll Is Dead," which in the context of the disco-era in which this album was released, was almost accurate. At the time of release, the influential New York Rocker declared the album, "The best pop album of the decade."
