Allen Stone arrived from rural Washington State sounding like he'd been raised in a Stax recording booth, and his Pacific Northwest roots give his brand of soul a distinct earnestness that sets him apart from coastal contemporaries. Radius, originally released in 2015, found him pushing deeper into funk-laced grooves and tight production without losing the raw, preacher's-son conviction that first turned heads.
