Cream – Wheels Of Fire (5-CD)
Product Details
Wheels of Fire arrived in 1968 as rock's first platinum album, a double LP that split itself between studio precision and live improvisation with almost confrontational boldness. The Winterland recordings captured here document Cream at the peak of their powers, when Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker were stretching blues frameworks into something the rock world had never heard before. Felix Pappalardi's personal reference reels offer a rare window into how those studio sides actually came together.
CREAM / WHEELS OF FIRE - Super Deluxe Edition chronicles the full creation of Cream's groundbreaking third album. The 5-CD set features a newly remastered stereo version of the album, plus a phase-corrected version that delivers greater detail and a crisp soundstage. Disc 2 includes previously unreleased personal reference reels sourced from the late Cream producer, Felix Pappalardi. Discs 3-4 feature live 1968 recordings from Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Disc 5 collects alternate mixes in stereo and mono, plus additional live tracks. The set is completed with a hardcover book featuring sleeve notes by Jim Faber and photos from the era. All contents are housed in a rigid slipcase with silver lamination finish. Limited Edition.
