Jon Batiste – Black Mozart (LP Vinyl)

Jon Batiste has spent years insisting that the walls between classical, jazz, and American roots music are artificial constructs, and this project puts that argument into practice rather than just stating it. His work with the Stay Human band, his residency at the American Museum of Natural History, and his years leading the Late Show band all pointed toward this moment: a pianist steeped equally in New Orleans tradition and conservatory training, reclaiming the conversation between European classical music and its Black American descendants.
